When Is the Best Time to Schedule Maternity Photos?
One of the most common questions I hear is, "When should I schedule my maternity photos?"
The sweet spot is typically between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.
At this stage, your baby bump is beautifully round and visible, but you're usually still comfortable enough to walk, move, and enjoy your session. Every pregnancy is different, of course, so the timing may vary depending on how you're feeling or whether you're expecting multiples.
If you're carrying twins or have a high-risk pregnancy, I often recommend scheduling a little earlier—around 26 to 30 weeks—just to ensure you're feeling your best.
The most important thing isn't the exact week—it's capturing this incredible season before it slips away.
Don't Wait Too Long to Book
If you're hoping for a session during peak seasons like spring in Central Park or colorful fall foliage, it's best to reserve your date a few months in advance.
Booking early gives us the most flexibility to choose the perfect location, time of day, and, if needed, a backup date for weather.
It's About More Than the Baby Bump
Maternity photographs aren't just about documenting your pregnancy.
They're about preserving the anticipation, excitement, and quiet moments before everything changes.
Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, this chapter is unique. Soon your tiny kicks will become tiny footsteps, and your life will look completely different.
These photographs become a way to remember not just how you looked—but how you felt while you were waiting to meet someone who would change your life forever.
